Ahmad Shah, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Ahmad was raised on a farm in Pakistan, where he grew up around sheep, water buffalos, cows, greyhounds, and even Arabian horses. His connection with animals at an early age made a permanent impression—he’s always known that he wanted to become a veterinarian! Now, he’s been practicing animal medicine as a licensed veterinarian for over 30 years.

After high school, Dr. Shah enrolled in pre-veterinary courses in Lahore, Pakistan before attending veterinary school to earn his doctor’s certifications. He moved to the United States in the early 1980s, attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to complete an internship, before launching his professional veterinary career in Pennsylvania. Dr. Shah moved to Maryland in 1999 and has been helping the pets and animal parents in the area ever since.

Outside of his interests in veterinary medicine, Dr. Shah is an avid photographer and loves to take shots with his collection of professional Nikon lenses. He also enjoys art, studying American history, and traveling. Dr. Shah and his wife have three wonderful children: their son is a fourth-year medical student; their daughter Danya graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University and currently works in the veterinary field at another nearby hospital, and their daughter Areebah works as a veterinary assistant.
